My article about Panda 2.5 appears in the Google search results 1 minute after publishing!

My article about Panda and eHow correlation appeared 2nd on Google.com just 1 minute after I hit “publish”. Had this been a news site or a major blog I would not have been surprised. My surprise comes as this is a blog with very few articles and very little pagerank.

Anyone who has been doing SEO for any amount of time would immediately assume it´s Google personalised results which are responsible. So what I did was first to open up a new browser. I was using Chrome so I decided to open FireFox and not log into Google.

A search in FireFox without being logged in also showed my article at #2 for “panda ehow correlation”. Okay, so maybe Google is showing results based on my IP address and are still serving the article in some type of intuitive way… I tried a web proxy this time and the result was the same:

Why was I searching for those keywords

After hitting publish it occurred to me that there might have been other articles showing the correlation and I was curious to see if I was treading on someone else’s toes. When I saw my article ranking second I could not believe it. How was it possible?

How to rank within 1 minute of publishing an article on wordpress

This is strictly speculation but there are some basic facts about my blog which can help me try to identify why it is ranking so quickly.

Basic facts about my blog at the time of writing this post:

  • This blog is relatively new. There were only 4 posts before the one that ranked within 1 minute
  • This blog has very little PageRank. Toolbar PR shows 0/10. Blekko Hostrank is 2.2. MozRank Domain Authority 13/100
  • This wordpress blog does not use Yoast SEO plugin (I had not got around to installing it even though I know it is extremely useful and I have it on other blogs).
I´m guessing some or all of these factors are responsible for such speedy indexation:
  • Usage of Google chrome while writing the post and logged into Google+
  • Some type of Google ping used by the wordpress theme I´m using (Arras Theme)
  • Pagerank request made by one of two extensions for Chrome that I´m using – SEO Site Tools and a Simple PageRank checker by AddonFactory
If anyone has any idea why the article was indexed so fast I would love to hear it.

Either way I´m highly impressed that a low PR insignificant blog such as mine was indexed within a minute of the article going live.
